Colegio San Isidoro
Granada
Colegio San Isidoro is located in Granada, just in the south of Spain in a region called Andalucía. We are the second older school in our province, with 133 years old (1887).There are 369 students from 0 to 18 years old, divided in: -Kindergarden (aged 0-3 and 3-6) -Primary school (aged 6-12) -Secondary school (aged 12-16) -Baccalaureate (aged 16-18).
Our school is not run with government funds ́til Baccalaureate, where parents pay monthly. Our school take the lessons provided by Junta de Andalucía, the main organism in the region which is also regulated by the Ministry of Education.
As a bilingual school from last 2015/16, we include 3 foreign languages right now: the main one is English but we also offer Deutsch from primary 3rd (aged 8) to secondary 2nd (aged 13). Next year it will be increased to secondary 3rd year (aged 14) as it is described by the Government, and this way ́til we will be covered in all education years. Once we get it, we will lose French (right now we offer it in secondary 3rd and 4th and in 1st and 2nd Baccalaureate). We are 26 teachers at school, and we also have orientation team, therapeutic pedagogic teacher and Logopedic.
This way we can help families to arrange any kind of problems/situations that come up. Last year, we had the opportunity of being involved in 5 different Erasmus+ KA2 projects. Last september 2019 we succesfully completed 4 of them, actually in the last year of the 5th one. We are updating all the info about into our website cisidoro.com As an experienced school in projects, we can do a very nice job for everybody. The most important for us is to get our students really involved into the main subject of the project, preparing them to work in teams, some of our students have no possibilities of this kind of mobilities because of their social condition, motivating them to enjoy this really interestin experience and ofcourse, to have the opportunity to improve their English. In Spain we are having great steps about English improvement, so Erasmus is a very nice opportunity to get it. Granada is a beautiful city, with about 250.000 people in the capital and 400.000 in the whole province. It is one of the most desired cities to be visited in Spain and it is very historical and cultural city, with a Muslim past and for example we have the Albayzin and The Alhambra monument, which is the most visited one in our country. It is a multicultural city and people are very kind, warm and open-minded. We decided to participate in some projects under the motto of “equality” and “human rights”. We want everybody have the same rights and where colour, religion or beliefs do not matter.
The keypersons are José Manuel Manzano Jiménez(Contact Person) and Gloria Álvarez de Cienfuegos Rivera (Legal Representative) and we have plenty language teachers who can take over in case of a need.
